I love how the penalty report concludes that both Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen were at fault, because both could've avoided the crash - ya know, what we call a racing incident - but only one driver is penalized. Make it make sense.

IMO, it's harsh. I'd have gone with racing incident. Three place grid penalty is a harder penalty than what Hamilton took at Silverstone too although, to be fair to the stewards, they can't take context into the consideration.

#F1 #ItalianGP Reading the reason, I can't help the feeling that the stewards also thought that BOTH could do things differently. So a 3 place grid drop, like what Bottas got for whiping out a number of cars. Maybe 10s was better ? Like when you drop someone in the barrier ?

So, Max Verstappen is handed a 3 place grid penalty for Russia after the incident with Lewis Hamilton in Italy. Quite surprised they’ve not called it a racing incident. #F1.
