The stewards have announced the outcome of the investigation involving Lewis Hamilton following the Singapore Grand Prix. Hamilton has been handed a five-second penalty, with Alonso therefore inheriting seventh place from him.
“The Stewards heard from the team representative and the driver, reviewed positioning/marshalling system data, video, team radio and in-car video evidence,” the FIA document reads.
“During the hearing, the driver confirmed that he left the track at several occasions. He was trying to manage a brakes issue situation.

This being said, after further investigation, and in accordance with the list of exemptions foreseen in the Driving Standards Guidelines, the Stewards considered that this was not a justifiable reason and apply the usual penalty for such type of infringement. This was not contested by the team representative nor the driver.”
Alonso explodes in furious radio outburst against Hamilton
The Briton was summoned for an alleged breach of Article 33.3 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations — leaving the track without a justifiable reason at 21:41 — following brake issues in the closing stages of the race that forced him to yield positions to both Antonelli and Leclerc.
The seven-time world champion, who had significantly lifted off to nurse his car home, cut several corners on his way to the chequered flag, finishing just a few tenths ahead of Alonso — an outcome that sparked a furious radio outburst from the Spaniard toward his race engineer.
Alonso also took the opportunity to criticise the lack of action taken on Saturday, when Hamilton accelerated under red flag conditions during FP3 but escaped without penalty.
