GTA VI may feature track also inspired by legendary Formula 1 circuit

For the first time in Grand Theft Auto history, GTA VI appears to be getting a full-fledged racetrack. A leaked map of Leonida shows a large circuit that seems to incorporate features from several existing tracks. Notably for F1 fans, Monza, where Formula 1 will hold its next Grand Prix, is a source of inspiration.
This evening, GTA VI will take center stage with the premiere of Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look. For the presentation, Rockstar Games has struck a special partnership with Netflix. Netflix subscribers will be the first to see the new footage at 8:00pm GMT, six hours before the presentation becomes available on Rockstar's own channels.
Shortly before that presentation, however, a new version of a fan-compiled map of Leonida also emerged. It features a circuit labelled Port Gellhorn International Raceway. Rockstar Games has not officially confirmed the existence or final layout of the racetrack, so the information from the leaked map should be taken with a pinch of salt for now.
The circuit would be a first for the GTA series. Previous entries have already offered various ways to race, including ovals, dirt tracks, and routes on public roads, but a circuit of this kind has yet to feature.

GTA VI circuit shows similarities to Monza, Sebring, and the Nurburgring

Since GTA VI is set in Leonida, the fictional version of Florida, a comparison with America's Sebring seems obvious. However, the shape of the leaked track does not directly match any single existing circuit.
Elements from various tracks can be recognized. In addition to Sebring, the circuit also appears to have been influenced by the Nurburgring and Monza. This suggests that it is not a digital copy of any single existing track.
The reference to Monza comes just before Formula 1 heads to the circuit for the Italian Grand Prix next weekend.
There are also indications that Rockstar Games has bigger plans for Port Gellhorn than simply having a racetrack there. Analyses of the map point to a larger motorsport complex, potentially with space for drag racing and other activities. The name Gellhorn International Raceway already appeared in information from the major 2022 GTA VI leak. In the second official trailer, the main character, Lucia, wore clothing referencing Gellhorn International.
Rockstar Games itself has not disclosed anything about the track yet. The developer only confirmed that GTA VI is set in Leonida and that the game will launch on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

GTA VI's Extended Look now live on Netflix

More official information about GTA VI can be seen on Thursday evening. The new extended presentation will be available exclusively on Netflix starting at 8:00pm GMT. It is the first collaboration of this kind between Netflix and Rockstar Games, with the streaming platform getting the footage six hours ahead of other platforms.
Rockstar Games deliberately calls the broadcast an 'Extended Look' rather than a specific gameplay presentation, although it does indeed feature gameplay alongside cutscenes.
Six hours after the Netflix premiere, at 2:00pm GMT, the presentation will also be available to watch on Rockstar Games' official YouTube channel and website.
