Hamilton, who spoke to the media following his outing at the Singapore Grand Prix, admitted to feeling for the entire team amid the hard work they continue to put in. The seven-time world champion, however, admitted that the car is not on the same level as the front-runners.
“The guys are pushing so hard each weekend. I feel pain for the whole team – from catering to marketing, to the guys in the garage and the engineers who show up every weekend and really do give absolutely everything,” he said.
“But the car we have is just not at the level of the guys up ahead of us, particularly as they’ve had some upgrades, and we can’t match them. So we’re on a knife-edge trying to get as close as we can,” Hamilton concluded.

Hamilton: ‘There was potential to be further ahead’

Hamilton also detailed how he could have extracted more performance from the SF-25 at the Singapore Grand Prix. The 40-year-old pointed to his execution in qualifying, noting that a stronger session could have translated into an overall positive result.
He said, “There was potential for us to be further ahead this weekend. In qualifying, I’m not extracting the full potential of the car – both in the last race and this weekend.”
"I think there was potential to have been third or fourth on the grid this weekend if we had perfected and extracted the tyre performance, and not queued at the end of the pit lane, for example.”

“In the race, I don’t think we’re necessarily… We’re kind of on par, pace-wise, with at least a couple of cars ahead of us, but obviously not quicker. If we can get our qualifying fixed, which is very hard to do against these quick cars,  then maybe we can get slightly better results,” he concluded.
Hamilton endured a challenging outing at the Singapore Grand Prix. The British driver failed to improve on his sixth-place starting position, having been forced to nurse brake issues and several other problems during the race. He was also handed a five-second penalty, which dropped him to eighth place following a track limits violation.
