Lewis Hamilton was forced to retire from the Spanish Grand Prix after just a few laps due to technical problems, leaving Charles Leclerc as the only Ferrari driver still in the race.
The seven-time world champion reported brake problems, with the Ferrari pit wall asking him not to stop the car on track and instead make it back to the pits. Hamilton successfully managed to return to the garage, where he was ultimately forced to retire from the race.
Shortly before his retirement, Hamilton had been involved in a battle with Max Verstappen at the start. The Dutchman was overtaken by the Ferrari driver through the opening corners before reclaiming the position by cutting the chicane, prompting the Red Bull pit wall to instruct him to hand the place back.
