Hamilton has had some difficult qualifying outings this year, being knocked out in Q1 at Spa. He also failed to reach the top 10-shootout at Imola and in Hungary.
There was an upturn in form over a single lap in Singapore, as Hamilton outqualified Leclerc. However, the seven-time world champion feel he'll need to drive beyond the limits of his Ferrari to get ahead of other teams.
The 40-year-old added: "It's all about how we extract your qualifying and if we can get the most out of the car. But at the moment, we need to get 105% out of the car to be able to beat the guys ahead. So that's going to be tough."
Ferrari now 'the fourth force' in F1
There was a lot of optimism surrounding Ferrari in pre-season, as Hamilton joined the team to partner Leclerc in a star-studded lineup.
Despite this, they have struggled with ride height, which has cost them performance across the campaign.
