Verstappen reveals which Dutchman he wants to win the Champions League

Max Verstappen has revealed which player he would like to see winning the UEFA Champions League this season.

"I get on very well with Virgil [van Dijk], for example. I texted him quite often about F1 and football."

Verstappen explained that he is a PSV fan but doesn't see his beloved Dutch team going on to win the continental club competition.

The four-time F1 world champion said who he wants to win the tournament in a video by Hypebeast: "Barcelona. My favourite team internationally is Barcelona. Of course, in Holland, it's PSV.

"Unfortunately, I don't see them winning the Champions League, but I would hope Barcelona first. If not, I would hope Liverpool. I got on very well with Virgil [van Dijk], for example. I texted him quite often about F1 and football. That would be nice to see as well."

Van Dijk has previously won the Champions League with Liverpool. The Dutchman secured a winners' medal in 2019 when they beat fellow Premier League side Tottenham 2-0 2019.

Verstappen has often expressed his love of football and PSV on social media and also plays FIFA at times, now called EA FC.

Verstappen is ready to battle Mercedes in the Constructors' Championship

The Austrian team sits fourth, just 35 points behind second-placed Mercedes with six rounds left this season.

Verstappen is confident that it is going to be a battle for the runner-up position as the campaign nears its conclusion.
