Max Verstappen has fired a warning shot at Mercedes as Red Bull aim to secure second place in the Constructors’ Championship.
“It’s going to be a proper battle.”

The Red Bull Racing driver admitted it was going to be a tough fight but stated that the team would be willing to give it a go with six races left on the 2025 calendar.
“Yeah, the 35 is quite a lot already. Ideally, I would have won today. But, yeah, we will try for sure. It’s going to be a proper battle,” Verstappen said.
“It’s not so easy when Mercedes wins today and you’re P2, and I think the other Mercedes also scored points — I don’t know what position. So it’s tough, but we’re going to give it a good go.”

Red Bull Racing have been one of the highest-scoring teams since the resumption of the 2025 campaign at the Dutch Grand Prix. The Austrian outfit, led by Verstappen, have finished on the podium in every race since Zandvoort, while teammate Yuki Tsunoda also recorded his best outing with the team during the race in Baku.
The Singapore Grand Prix saw Verstappen increase the team’s points tally to 290 with a podium finish, leaving them eight and 35 points behind Scuderia Ferrari and Mercedes, respectively.
With six races and three sprints still left on the 2025 calendar, a shake-up for second place in the Teams’ standings could be well on the cards – especially with McLaren already wrapping up first place at the Marina Bay Circuit.

Verstappen on drivers’ title

Verstappen also weighed in on the drivers’ championship fight. The Dutch driver is currently locked in a three-way battle with Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
The four-time world champion further cut the gap to Piastri at the top of the standings with his second-place finish at the Singapore Grand Prix.
