Lando Norris faces a pit lane start at the Chinese GP, as McLaren have identified an electrical issue with the world champion's car. Norris was set to start the Shanghai race in P6, but has had his preparations disturbed as the McLaren mechanics have removed the MCL40s floor and checked a number of parts.
The papaya team had reported they were on top of the issue, and said to GPblog: "We had identified an issue on the electronics side, which is why we had removed the floor and checked a number of parts.
"We believe we have rectified the issue and the team are now in final preparations for the race."
While McLaren said they have the issue under control, Norris was still in the garage as drivers headed out for their reconnaissance laps, with the Briton in the cockpit of his MCL40.
The pit lane has since closed, meaning the world champion faces a pit lane start provided the MCL40's issues are fixed in time, and Norris has since jumped out of his car.
