Ferrari confirms Hamilton’s Madrid qualifying fate after FP3 crash

Hamilton’s FP3 came to a premature end after the Ferrari driver lost control of his SF-26 and hit the barriers, damaging the front wing and leaving the car unable to continue. The incident cost Hamilton valuable track time during the final practice session, preventing him from completing the remainder of his programme ahead of qualifying and forcing Ferrari into an immediate repair job once the car was recovered and returned to the garage.

With only the short turnaround between FP3 and qualifying available, the mechanics worked to repair the damage and ensure the SF-26 was ready in time. Ferrari later confirmed that the work was completed successfully, meaning Hamilton will be able to take part in qualifying as normal.

Like Hamilton, Bearman damaged his car during FP3, leaving Haas facing a race against time to complete the necessary repairs before qualifying. Unlike Ferrari, however, the American team was unable to get the car ready in time, with Haas confirming that Bearman will not take part in the session.
