McLaren unveils fan-designed special livery for the Mexico Grand Prix

The McLaren F1 team will be sporting a special livery this coming weekend. At the Mexico City Grand Prix, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will race with a livery that fans helped create.
Earlier this year, fans were given the opportunity to put their most imaginative ideas on paper and send them to the team. A selection was chosen, and those ideas can now be seen on the livery. It was designed in collaboration with sponsor Velo. The aim is to involve fans more closely with Formula 1 and McLaren. The team also hopes this will give fans a way to share their passion for the sport.

Fans’ designs can be seen on the car’s sidepods. Whereas these are black on the regular livery, they are now blue. The panels are filled with the fans’ associations with Formula 1. Louise McEwen, McLaren’s Chief Marketing Officer, is delighted with the livery and explains the design choice.
“The Papaya Family is united by a shared passion for McLaren, and this special livery puts their stories at the heart of the team. By bringing individual ideas together in one collective design, we are celebrating the creativity of our fans on one of the biggest stages in motorsport.”

Malky Brown, BAT’s Global Head of Content & Partnerships, is also delighted with the fans’ submissions. “Every sticker tells the original story of a real fan dream, which is a powerful reminder that fandom isn't one-size-fits-all, it's personal, creative and unique to every fan. Through Live Your Fandom, Velo is helping turn those unique fan stories into unforgettable moments, giving them a place at the heart of the Mexico Grand Prix.”
