Stewards hand out grid penalty after Qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix

Carlos Sainz was handed a three-place grid penalty by the stewards after impeding Valtteri Bottas in Q1 at the Spanish Grand Prix.
The Spaniard had a day to forget at his home Grand Prix. The Williams driver just missed out on Q2, setting the 17th-fastest time and finishing behind his teammate, Alex Albon, in the first session by five thousandths of a second.
Afterwards, he was summoned by the stewards, who determined that he deserved a grid penalty for impeding Bottas. Sainz was not informed by his team that the Finnish driver was approaching from behind.
As a result, the Williams driver is set to start from P20 on the grid tomorrow afternoon.
The stewards' verdict
"The Stewards heard from the driver of Car 55 (Carlos Sainz), the driver of Car 77 (Valtteri Bottas), team representatives and reviewed video, timing, team radio and in-car video evidence.

"The team failed to inform the driver of Car 55 about Car 77 closing in on a flying lap and the driver did not take any action to make way for the incoming car. The Stewards determine that Car 55 unnecessarily impeded Car 77."
More drivers summoned at the Madring
Four other drivers were also summoned by the stewards after qualifying.
George Russell had to appear before the stewards at 18:00 local time (17:00 BST). He is investigated for not following the race director's escape road instructions.
Gabriel Bortoleto, Kimi Antonelli, and Charles Leclerc were also all summoned for driving unnecessarily slowly at the Madring.
