Norris ecstatic after Spanish GP pole: 'Oh s*** that was pretty good'

The defending world champion was among the last drivers to finish his lap at the Madring circuit and managed to snatch pole from championship leader Kimi Antonelli. After Max Verstappen set only the third-fastest time, the Briton could begin to celebrate.

"I'm shocked! A little bit surprised to be here now. My God, that was probably one of the best laps I've done in my career," he began after jumping out of his car.

"Just very happy. I don't know! One of those laps where you look at the lap time at the end and you go 'oh s*** that was pretty good'," he explained.

"The adrenaline was high on the last lap. It was just one where you have to relax, let it all flow. It's easy to get tense around here. There's a lot of walls that come at you pretty quickly," Norris continued about his lap.

There was a scary moment, however, for the Briton. He nearly lost control of his car in the final corner. "It was pretty much perfect, bar the last corner, I thought I was in the wall and the boys would have to repair the car tonight. It could have been a little bit better - but one of the best laps I've done

."Everything I wanted to achieve, I achieved. It puts a big smile on my face, so I'm happy," the McLaren driver concluded.
