Toto Wolff stated that "good things take a while" regarding George Russell's contract despite having a "formidable" 2025 season. "It's about the detail, and it's not about the big topics."
- Toto Wolff on George Russell's contractThe Brit earned his second win of the campaign with a flawless drive at the Singapore Grand Prix, dominating proceedings to continue what has been an impressive year on the track for the Mercedes driver.
Currently, a contract extension for the 27-year-old has yet to be made official, with his current deal at the German team expiring at the end of the 2025 season.
"He's been formidable this year. I haven't seen mistakes," the Austrian stated after Russell took his fifth career win in
F1.

"There were weekends that he himself said, ‘I could have done more. It wasn't a good race.’ But this happens with any driver.
"But, you can see when it just merges, the car being in a perfect space, and the driver being on top of things.
"That becomes the kind of dominant formula. That is what we've seen."
Russell shows his worth as contract wait continues
Once again, there was plenty of talk surrounding the contract that Russell still has not seen or signed,
despite there being verbal confirmation about Mercedes' 2026 lineup from Wolff at the Dutch Grand Prix.
"Contract-wise, good things take a while. It's about the detail, and it's not about the big topics," the CEO and team principal explained in the Singapore paddock when asked about the topic.
Yet another impressive weekend highlighted how valuable Russell is to his team,
adding another layer to the current contract situation.

Russell's second win of the season sees him sitting in P4 with 237 points in the drivers' championship, just 36 points behind Max Verstappen.
Those 25 points sealed around the
Marina Bay Street Circuit also saw Mercedes extend their lead over Ferrari in the constructors' championship to 27 points.
The German team now sits on 325 points in P2 and tightens its grip on that position, while a disappointing couple of weekends for the Scuderia sees them trail behind with 298 points.
