Sergio Perez recently made many of his fans happy, as his long-awaited F1 comeback finally materialised in the form of a Cadillac drive alongside Valtteri Bottas in 2026. However, the Mexican did temper hearts with a startling claim.
Perez was announced by Cadillac as one of its two drivers set to spearhead the American team's entry into F1.
The very next day after his announcement, Perez flew back to his native Mexico to greet a huge flock of adoring fans.
Nevertheless, it was not all roses and rainbows as Perez' statements revealed a rather bitter truth which the Mexican himself uttered bluntly.

Perez warns his fans, 'Cadillac will be my last project'

Speaking in statements quoted by Motorsport.com Perez admitted: “I see it as my last big project in Formula 1.”
“Finishing my career here would be incredible," he added.

"If I can help make it one of the most successful teams in the future, that would be incredible. Time will tell," he said of what his goal is for the General Motors backed team.
"For me, it will be important to see rapid progress,” said Perez in an urgent tone, given the 2-year timeline of his current deal with the Cadillac F1 team.

Perez urges fans to enjoy everything, as it will 'go by very quickly'

The Mexican driver has racked up 14 seasons in F1, which will become 16 when his current Cadillac deal comes to an end.
Having won 6 Grands Prix, all but one with Red Bull Racing, the Mexican has enjoyed a rather successful and lengthy tenure which has seen him drive only for iconic teams, such as Sauber, McLaren, Force India/Racing Point (now Aston Martin), and of course, Red Bull themselves.
“Let's enjoy it a lot; it's going to go by very quickly. It's the last stint in this. Let's enjoy every moment, every result,” Perez pleaded to his fans.
