Norris leads Antonelli-Verstappen showdown: Madrid GP final grid confirmed

The reigning world champion will start the inaugural Spanish Grand Prix at the Madring from pole position after producing a last-gasp effort to deny Kimi Antonelli.

The Mercedes driver had moved to the top in the closing stages of Q3, but Norris responded to beat the championship leader by just 0.011 seconds. The pair will therefore share the front row, with Norris in P1 and Antonelli alongside in P2.

Verstappen was another major contender for pole and eventually secured third, putting the Red Bull driver on the second row alongside Lewis Hamilton in fourth. Charles Leclerc will start fifth, with George Russell alongside in sixth on the third row after the Briton finished three tenths behind Mercedes teammate Antonelli. Oscar Piastri and Liam Lawson occupy the fourth row in seventh and eighth, while Franco Colapinto and Arvid Lindblad complete the top 10 from the fifth row.

Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto form an all-Audi sixth row in 11th and 12th, followed by Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly on the seventh row in 13th and 14th. Yuki Tsunoda will line up 15th, with Alex Albon alongside in 16th on the eighth row.

Fernando Alonso will start his home Grand Prix from 17th, with Sergio Perez alongside him on the ninth row in 18th. Valtteri Bottas lines up 19th, while fellow home hero Carlos Sainz starts 20th alongside the Cadillac driver on the 10th row.

Lance Stroll will start 21st and last on the grid, while Oliver Bearman is set to begin from the pit lane after Haas fitted a fourth Control Electronics unit and a fourth MGU-K to his car, exceeding the permitted allocation of three for each component.
