Andrew Shovlin remains cautious looking ahead after George Russell’s Singapore GP victory, with ‘different circuits’ coming up. "Very different circuits coming up, we're going to have to do a lot to adapt the car, but we're definitely not going to give up the fight."

Mercedes not getting carried away by one strength
Andrew Shovlin, the team’s Trackside Engineering Director, explained the trend of their car working at low-speed tracks, like Montreal and Singapore, but had issues elsewhere.
"There's no doubt that this car is working well at that slow-speed corner region where we seem to have very good grip, the drivers have got very good confidence on the big braking zones," he said in Mercedes' debrief.
The team experienced issues on tracks with high-speed corners, which is something Mercedes is trying to improve.

Shovlin continued: "We're still working on that, we're still trying to look for every little bit that's there in setup, but that's certainly something that's coming.
"If you look at a track like Austin, it's got a very, very fast Sector 1, so we need to make sure we can perform in that area."
The Trackside Engineering Director also praised Russell's performance, and explained the momentum this result gave the team.
"It was encouraging to see that the car can still win races, we saw a brilliant performance from George, the whole team has really been fired up from this and that's given us a lot of energy to take into these final six races.
"Very different circuits coming up, we're going to have to do a lot to adapt the car, but we're definitely not going to give up the fight."
The battle for P2 in the constructors’ standings is also heating up
Standings | Teams | Points |
P1 (Champions) | McLaren | 650 |
P2 | Mercedes | 325 |
P3 | Ferrari | 298 |
P4 | Red Bull | 290 |
However, the battle behind McLaren continues for second place. Mercedes currently have the edge over Ferrari and Red Bull Racing.
Verstappen also expects a "proper battle" looking ahead.
