Alex Marquez tops practice in Jerez, Acosta out and Aprilia on the ropes?

The first day of the Spanish Grand Prix weekend in Jerez is complete and it was not without its surprises. Last year's race winner Alex Marquez set a high benchmark, just one-tenth off the lap record, and nobody could catch his time of 1:35.704.
VR46's in-form Fabio Di Giannantonio was in P2, three-tenths behind the younger Marquez. His brother Marc could only manage P4, behind championship leader Marco Bezzecchi.
Just one-tenth separated Bezzecchi in 3rd and his Aprilia teammate Jorge Martin, who will be disappointed with a 9th place finish in the session.
Both Francesco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin crashed during the session, and there were close calls for Pedro Acosta and Fabio Quartararo.
Acosta was the big name to be eliminated, and he will have to contend for a top-two spot in Q1 tomorrow if he wishes to qualify on the front four rows of the gridl
