The MotoGP rumour mill has been turning at an accelerated RPM this year as looming technical regulations look to 'reset' the grid in 2027. The latest rumour relates to a potential Aussie swap as Senna Agius could be in-line to take the seat of his fellow countryman, Jack Miller.
In the latest episode of the Motorsport Republica podcast, Australian hosts Tom and James discussed various topics including the MotoGP silly season, which has already
thrown out some wild surprises in the first half of 2026.
"I know we've already talked about the transfer window a lot this year, but there are reports and strong reports about Senna Agius going to Pramac for next year." Said Tom, "Taking Jack's spot. [...] They all want an Aussie in there."
The pair then went on to discuss the introduction of the new Adelaide street circuit
which replaces the beloved Phillip Island in 2027:
"There's no way that they're going to bring in street circuit, in Adelaide, in Australia and not have an Australian race in that. [...] Now, I always believe that contracts should be given out on merit, but that's just not the world we live in." said James.

"Not saying that Senna Agius doesn't deserve a ride in MotoGP, because he is one of the quickest guys in Moto2, we know that. [...] But to think Liberty Media and MotoGP don't want an Aussie in there is insane."
Agius has been impressive in the first few rounds of 2026, taking pole position in Thailand and
winning the Moto2 race in COTA. If he continues his good form throughout the year, there is every chance he could be considered for promotion to the premier class.
However, Moto2 is currently a talent-stacked division with the likes of Manuel Gonzales and Izan Guevarra also in contention for the seat. While
Toprak Razgatlioglu already has a contract for next season, there are a huge amount of seats up for grabs.
