In a recent appearance on the Tengo un Plan podcast, Marc Marquez reflected on many aspects of his career so far, including his most dominant seasons in which winning was 'a piece of cake'.
Among many other subjects, Marquez was asked to define which year was the most dominant in his career and was even compared to Lionel Messi playing under Guardiola's Barcelona team.
When asked about which was the real 'prime' Marc Marquez, the seven-time MotoGP world champion responded with the following:
"I mean, in 2014 we were halfway through the season and I still didn't know what it was like to finish second. I mean, I had won everything, every race."
"I remember, a race in Holland, I didn't have the level to win. Four little drops, bike swap, bam. And it was a piece of cake and I won, huh?"

Marquez then compared the 2014 season with Honda to his 2025 triumph with Ducati, a feat which he has previously referred to as the biggest challenge of his career.
"In that moment, you feel unbeatable. Um, last year, well, I won seven in a row, but it wasn't seven, it was 14 because now there is the sprint race. So I won seven Grand Prix in the 37 points, in a row."
"But 2014, I felt invincible. [...] Last year I didn't, because I am much more realistic about the fact that from one Grand Prix to another, things change, and Indonesia proved that to me."
Marquez's 'Mandalika Curse' has seen him not only fail to win at the Indonesian circuit, but also suffer repeat injuries there. He will be hoping to break the curse once and for all this year as he seeks to overturn the trailblazing form of Aprilia's Marco Bezzecchi.
