Current Formula 1 rookie and Racing Bulls driver Arvid Lindblad has named Marc Marquez among his biggest sporting inspirations, highlighting the immense impact of the reigning MotoGP World Champion across all of motorsport. Lindblad, who has so far had a very impressive start to his F1 career, scoring points with a P8 finish in his debut race in Australia, while only falling short of the top 10 by a couple of places in the next two Grand Prixs.
In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, the 18-year-old driver named
one of MotoGP's icons among his top four sporting idols:
"My role model is, without a doubt, Lewis Hamilton, who debuted in the top category the year I was born and won many titles when I started to become interested in this sport."
However, it is also clear that Lindblad is looking beyond Formula 1 to find inspiration, which is a very positive sign for any young competitor:
"I also have enormous respect for Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Marc Márquez, whose mentality I admire, [...] They are willing to take great risks in order to achieve victory."
A choice of highly successful and dominant atheletes in their respective sports, Lindblad is certainly aiming high and learning from the best. The young driver has been on record expressing his enthusiasm for MotoGP, much like
Lando Norris and
Max Verstappen, who have all
similarly praised Marquez in the past.
