Verstappen reveals greater plan behind his sim racing team

Max Verstappen explained how sim racing has helped him become a better driver and what he hopes to achieve by investing in it.
Verstappen is heavily invested in sim racing. The Dutchman regularly participates in events, and this year, Team Redline also rebranded as Verstappen Sim Racing.
"It definitely kept me also sharp off-track, preparing maybe in different ways that hadn't really been done before," Verstappen began.
"But at the same time, it was also a hobby for me where I wanted to grow in, let's say, the sim racing community, to show that there are possibilities also for sim drivers to get into the real world. So that was also a bit the project behind that, besides becoming, let's say, one of the strongest teams in the sim racing community.
"But for me, I think driving, adapting to different kind of cars outside of Formula 1, it always helps. So, when you drive these kinds of cars then for the first time in real life, I think it just helps a lot with how you process all the things already, just driving out of the pits and starting first few laps.

"And that's why I also enjoy driving in other races than only Formula 1, doing these endurance events. Yeah, I enjoy them a lot," the Dutchman concluded.
Verstappen finds Monza 'impossible' to predict
Speaking to GPblog, among others, Verstappen found it hard to predict how his team would do next week. "Impossible to know. I have no idea," he said.

He also set his target for the team after Red Bull Racing experienced difficulties at Zandvoort. "I mean, I just hope to try and be a bit closer in terms of pace that would be nice."
Red Bull Racing team boss Laurent Mekies also explained there is plenty of work ahead for the Milton Keynes-based outfit.
"So, some tough work for us to do to regroup and to see if it is simply the competition that has done a better job than us at upgrading the car or if something has been limiting us more than it should have been here in Zandvoort. That will be for us the next two weeks before we fight back in Monza all together," the Frenchman commented.
