Ducati are making a number of moves on the rider market behind the scenes, and it seems that they are arguably in the strongest position on the grid in terms of their future rider, but can they really replace Marc Marquez? Aside from
Valentino Rossi's, there are arguably no bigger boots in the world of MotoGP to fill than those of Marc Marquez. However, the reigning and seven-time world champion has hinted that his
retirement may come sooner rather than later, which means Ducati need to find a worthy replacement.
While Pedro Acosta is already expected to be signed to the factory team for 2027 onward, Fermin Aldeguer has also caught the attention of the Italian team. As such, the young Spaniard is believed to be
moving to the VR46 squad in 2027 as the future of his current team, Gresini, remains uncertain.
At the same time that Gresini seem likely to depart Ducati, VR46 appear to be
committed to renewing their deal with their Italian factory supplier. It is not uncommon for satellite teams to switch between factories, and Honda are reportedly looking for a second satellite team to field in 2027.
Ironically, it could ultimately end up being Valentino Rossi's decision on who ends up in the primary running to replace Marc Marquez at Ducati.
