If you haven't heard the name David Alonso yet, it's only a matter of time. Alonso is one of the most promising talents to emerge from Moto3 and Moto2 in recent years, and his skills have already caught the eyes of several of MotoGP's biggest teams.
Currently just 19 years of age, the half Colombian and half Spanish rider has already made a name for himself and shown many positive characteristics of a future premier class champion.
Despite his young age, he already has a very impressive career trophy haul. Many are expecting him to challenge for the Moto2 title this year, following in the footsteps of recent graduate Diogo Moreira.

Alonso started his motor racing career as he would mean to go on, with instant success in the European Talent Cup. After finishing 5th in his rookie season in 2019, he would then dominate the 2020 campaign, beating the likes of Angel Piqueras, Ivan Ortola, Alvaro Carpe and Collin Veijer.
Following that, he was promoted to the Red Bull Rookies Cup, one step below Moto3, which he won in 2021 ahead of names including Dani Holgado, David Munoz and even Diogo Moreira. During this time, he also made the odd wildcard appearance for Moto3's GasGas team, which is where he would find a permanent home for the 2023 season.

Starting out with GasGas in Moto3, Alonso managed a very impressive 3rd place overall finish in the championship standings in his first full-time season. However, a switch to CFMoto for 2024 would prove to be a smart decision as he went on to dominate the season and win by a record-setting 165 points margin. During this season, he set several further records for the class, including Most Wins in the Moto3 Class (18), Most Wins In A Single Season (14), Most Consecutive Wins (7), Most Points Scored In A Single Season (421) and Most Podiums in a Single Season (15).

Some Spanish publications are already suggesting that he may have been granted a factory ride alongside Fabio Quartararo for next year.
