Honda LCR rider Diogo Moreira is set to compete in his first ever home race in Brazil this weekend, and a special tribute helmet has been made for the occasion.
As the 2025 Moto2 world champion, Moreira was one of the most sought-after young prospects at the start of 2026, with Honda managing to secure the signature of what is sure to be one of the sport's brightest talents in the future.
In a fitting tribute to the F1 legend to whom the circuit owes its name, Moreira will don a Senna-style helmet for the MotoGP weekend in what is sure to be an emotional weekend for the young Brazilian.
Moreira already impressed in
his debut weekend at the Thai Grand Prix in Buriram, qualifying in 15th and finishing the Sunday race in 13th place which was enough to earn him his first MotoGP points.
"For me it's a dream come true," said Moreira in a pre-race Honda Brasil press conference, "to be able to race here in Brasil, [...] also in the main category and to carry this flag - it's a source of pride."
When asked what his expectations are
for the weekend in Goiania, Moreira had the following to say:
"Of course, the crowd is going to be very very big, right? So it will be a weekend with a lot of, I would say, celebration. My whole family will be there, the audience will be very large, so I'm very anxious to start the weekend. [...] After so many years in Europe, to be able to come and race in Brasil is really a dream come true for me already - so, I'm happy with this return, and I'll try to do my best this weekend."
