Confident Lindblad gives positive reaction to first three rounds of F1 career

Arvid Lindblad has started the F1 season positively, showing consistent pace and regularly competing inside the top 10.
Most recently, the Racing Bulls rookie finished 14th in Japan. He was running inside the points in 10th place before he pitted on lap 18, and hoped to progress from there. However, the safety car was deployed for Ollie Bearman’s huge accident, allowing other drivers to leapfrog him.
Despite this disappointment, Lindblad was positive about his performances in the first three races of his F1 career when speaking to the media post-race in Japan. His only points-score so far came on debut with eighth in Australia.
He said: “It’s been a big confidence boost for me, these first couple of races – I’ve shown that I have the talent, I’ve shown that I’m fast in what I can do.
"I think I’ve put in some pretty good, impressive performances, but at the same time there’s also a lot of things to work on and to improve which is to be expected as an 18-year-old rookie with these cars that are very different.

The challenges of modern energy management

“We’re all playing with the boost when we’re in the fights, being able to know when to use it, how to use it. If you spend more energy, you’re going to have less energy on the next laps, there is a penalty - [it’s about learning] how to get that back into the swing of things again as quickly as possible, all that kind of stuff.
"I think that’s a big thing. But also in the end, yes, there’s a lot of talk about energy on these cars, but they’re still a Formula 1 car.

“They’re still quick, there’s still understanding the tyres, how to be on the limit in the long runs, I mean I’ve done no long running this week so it was a bit difficult in the start of the race. So yes on the energy side, but more globally, there’s things to work on.”

Lindblad’s record of only one points score belies an impressive start to 2026. In Japan, he even knocked Red Bull stablemate and four-time world champion Max Verstappen out of qualifying to move into Q3. His target for Miami will now be to add to that tally and close the current six-point gap to Liam Lawson in the drivers' standings.
