Ducati have been forced to play catch-up in the early stages of 2026, but they are keeping ahead of the game when it comes to next year's regulation overhaul, which will see the teams field reduced 850cc engines.
Earlier this week, Ducati test rider Michele Pirro was spotted at the Misano Circuit in Emilia-Romagna giving the new 850cc a spin. This comes after an earlier Jerez test in which Ducati tested new aero parts to counter Aprilia's recent innovation.
Due to the current concessions imposed on the team, only Pirro is allowed to test new parts with the exception of official testing days such as the one coming in Jerez.
In addition to the new engine, the bike was also running on Pirelli tyres, which are set to replace the current Michellins in 2027.

On top of the regulation changes, there are also going to be numerous driver and team swaps taking place in the paddock. Perhaps the most high profile moves are those of Pedro Acosta to Ducati and Quartararo to Honda. Elsewhere, it looks like Bagnaia will move to Aprilia and Jorge Martin will end up at Yamaha.

How the MotoGP grid is shaking up for 2027: Rumours, signings and team transfers

The MotoGP paddock is full of rumours regarding potential lineups for the 2027 season, and the grid is shaping up to be almost unrecognisable from its current state.
While many riders are out of contract at the end of the year and plenty of young talent is coming through from Moto2, very few deals have been officially confirmed for next year.

This is in part due to the finalization of a new Concorde Agreement between teams and MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group. However, that hasn't stopped the rumour mill from turning, with many credible reports and rider comments hinting at their agreed switches. Here is how the MotoGP grid is shaping up for 2027.
