Marc Marquez has ruled out a return to his long-time team at Honda as speculation around his future in the MotoGP paddock continues to grow. Marquez, the current reigning world champion, has yet to confirm whether he will even be racing next year, let alone which team it will be for. While the most likely option is
a multi-year renewal with Ducati, some were speculating that he may also consider a move back to Honda.
Previously, Marquez won six out of his seven premier class world titles with Honda between 2013-19, but a dip in the bike's performance combined with several very severe injuries led Marquez to leave the team and join
Ducati instead.
It was a shock move, and one which the Spaniard even refused a salary in order to force through, but ultimately one that paid off as he joined the factory team the following year and
completely dominated the world championship.

In a recent interview on the Spanish podcast
Tengo un Plan, Marquez shined light on many key moment of his career, but also believed that there was very little chance of ever returning to the Japanese manufacturer:
"Obviously it would be very beautiful to close the circle, but for me, the circle is closed. The circle of my sports career, I have closed it personally."
"Everything that comes now is welcome. I mean, the ambition is the same, and the desire to win is the same. But I didn't want my sports career to end after the 2020 injury. I didn't win again. I have won again. That's it. Circle closed."
"I have made peace with myself because a series of decisions were made to return prematurely, which lengthened that injury, but my circle is closed. So, everything that comes now, welcome."
"But one of the things I have also learned is that you don't have to do one thing or another just to look good, but to seek what is best for you, because a rider's sports career is 10, 15 years going well. Then, life will continue, but you have to take advantage of it to the maximum."
