While rumours circulate surrounding the future of Marc Marquez in MotoGP, Ducati have made their intentions clear that they want to retain the services of the reigning world champion heading into 2027.
Marquez is largely considered one of the greatest riders in MotoGP history and recently attained his seventh premier class title after an astonishing comeback with Ducati.
Following his years of success with the Honda team, Marquez's decision to join the Ducati project in 2024 was a risk that paid off. After being promoted to the factory team alongside Francesco Bagnaia, Marquez would dominate from the season opener and secure the title by round 17 in Japan.
Like many riders on the grid, Marquez's contract is due to expire at the end of 2026. Speculation around the champion's future ranges from
potential hints of retirement to contract confirmations.
According to Motorsport.com, a deal has already been agreed with Ducati to extend Marquez's contract for a further two years until 2028.

While no deal has been openly confirmed yet by either party, the report claims that the deal was signed in private during
Ducati's team launch event at Madonna di Campiglio ski resort in Italy this week.
Ducati's team manager Davide Tardozzi made his intentions clear when interviewed during the event.
"First of all we are looking to try to try to renew the world champion," he said when speaking to the MotoGP live broadcast team, "that's obvious like we did with Pecco in the past. [...] We are not under pressure. Again we would like to fix, if it's possible, the world champion, then we'll see."
Marquez also spoke about his Ducati future at the same event, and when asked about contract extensions into the future the world champion responded in the following way:
"If you check my career, if I'm in a team where I feel good, where I feel fast and everything is working well, I try to not move. So of course, my first option is to try to be in Ducati, but step by step, looks like every time the contracts are closed earlier and earlier. Of course, we are in conversations but I need to evaluate all the things."
