Who is Toprak Razgatlioglu? The Turkish superstar set to shake up MotoGP in 2026

While the MotoGP paddock hasn't been shaken up too drastically ahead of the 2026 season, one man who is set to make a splash is WSBK champion Toprak Razgatlioglu.
The three-time Superbike World Champion has made the switch to MotoGP, following in the footsteps of riders like Max Biaggi, Colin Edwards and Ben Spies.
He lines up alongside Australia's Jack Miller at Prima Pramac Yamaha - who recently unveiled their 2026 bike at a season launch event in Siena, Italy.
As the first Turkish rider in MotoGP history, Toprak brings with him an army of adoring fans who are keen to see their nation represented at the pinnacle of world motorsport.
Toprak has already made clear that 2026 will be a "learning year" for him as he adjusts to the challenges and demands of MotoGP, but he hopes that he will be more competitive when the new regulation changes set for 2027 take effect.

"Finally the dream has come true," said Toprak during Pramac's launch event, "joining the Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP family.
"I'm very happy for this and this is the right decision because the team and everyone has been very warm. I will try every race weekend to do my best and will see this year."

The new number 07 was keen to keep expectations realistic however, knowing that he is entering a team who are very much in a development process.
"After superbikes, riding the MotoGP bike is completely different, especially the acceleration and on the straights." he said. "I need time to adapt to the bike and learn, especially the tyres."

Toprak has earned high praise from both fans and his fellow riders alike for his obvious natural talent and ability to ride on the limit with extraordinary consistency.
"I respect a lot his riding style," said current MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez. "Let's see what he can do on a MotoGP bike. I think it's good for MotoGP to have another champion in our category."
Either way, Toprak is sure to bring excitement to the MotoGP grid in 2026 and has a tough challenge ahead of him.
