Marko: 'Know that we are taking a risk, because we cannot start from scratch'.

The future of Red Bull Racing after 2021 is still uncertain because of the issues surrounding their power unit. Honda will stop being an official supplier at the end of that season, but Red Bull would like to take over the power source from the Japanese.

"We are working on that," says Helmut Marko in an interview with La Gazzetta Dello Sport. "Of course we need a freeze on the engine regulations, but I would also say that it is Formula 1 that it needs in order to reduce costs. At the moment we are waiting for the decision of the FIA and Liberty. Once that is done, we will get on with it".

Red Bull needs a freeze on the engine regulations because without factory support it does not have the means to develop the engine further. If they don't succeed, the only other option is to become a customer team again, something Red Bull does not want and so Marko is prepared to take a risk.
