The Canadian Grand Prix was full of chaos. Max Verstappen won the race starting from second place despite the changeable conditions. He was joined on the podium by Britons Lando Norris and George Russel
Verstappen at the top of the rankings
Verstappen wasn't the favourite for the Canadian Grand Prix. The RB20 was set to struggle with the bumpy Montreal circuit. Yet, Verstappen was victorious, finishing first in the race and scoring 9.0 in the Power Rankings. "The Dutchman using all of his skill to haul a car that was far from being the indomitable class of the field (as it was at the start of the season) into contention – on a weekend where teammate Sergio Perez endured his second straight Q1 exit and DNF."
Close behind Verstappen is Lando Norris, with an 8.8 rating. Norris and Verstappen have become a constant in the top three of the Power Rankings. "Lando Norris remains the only driver to have scored in every Grand Prix of 2024 so far, the Englishman revelling in showing up every weekend knowing that, if both he and McLaren execute, he has a shout at netting a podium."
The pole-sitter for the Canadian Grand Prix is third place in both the race and Power Rankings. George Russell secured Mercedes' first pole position in Canada since the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix. The Briton therefore sits on an 8.2.

Oscar Piastri shares fourth place with Pierre Gasly (7.8). Sixth place is occupied by Daniel Ricciardo (7.4), the Australian performed very well at a weekend where he was much critiqued. Fernando Alonso and Alex Albon share seventh place (7.2). Esteban Ocon grabs ninth place (7.0) and Lewis Hamilton closes the top ten with a 6.8.
