Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has claimed "not many teams" would have been able to come back from the difficult spell endured by the Silver Arrows over recent years. After five years since their last, Mercedes have won their ninth Constructors' title at the Sao Paulo GP.
While it was far from straightforward, Mercedes' P4 and P5 finish at Interlagos was more than enough to secure the double title victory, having secured the Drivers' title last weekend at the Mexico City GP. Needing just three more points than main rivals Ferrari - who finished P7 and P9 - Mercedes' title win was a matter of if and not when.
Speaking immediately after the Sao Paulo GP, Wolff highlighted the Silver Arrows' dominant start to the 2026 season as the key to their latest victory, having struggled at times with reliability, and later performance against their rivals during the closing stages of the year.
"It's amazing," said Wolff, who himself is now tied with Sir Frank Williams on the most Constructors' titles as an F1 team principal.
"It was a very strong beginning of the season and that kind of got us over the line. These last few races have been challenging at times, today it was difficult, but overall I'm so proud for the organisation.

"We have taken a few years to be back at the top spot. Not many teams have been able to come back from such a situation and it just shows the great work, the great people we have in our organisation and it's great to be among them."

Reflecting on equalling Williams' title-winning record, a good friend of the Austrian, Wolff said he never thought it was possible, and praised those within his team.

Wolff said: "I kind of see that, and obviously Frank is such an unbelievable icon of the sport, and to be tied on Constructors' Championships, I never thought that was ever possible."
"I had a close relationship with Frank, and to be there, It's amazing. I can't believe it. But also fair justice, you know, there are some of our people that have won more than nine, that have been with Braun, that have been with winning it with Honda, God knows what, and they have more. So, yeah, I take it. It's great."
