Las Vegas Grand Prix

The Las Vegas Grand Prix on the newly created Strip Circuit will host the return of Formula 1 in the so-called ‘Sin City’, after the Caesars Palace Grand Prix of 1982. The last race in the desert was won by Michele Alborato. The track has already made headlines with its expensive tickets and it is another night race. As a result of the reintroduction of Las Vegas in the calendar, three races are now hosted by the United States.

F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix 2023

The 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix takes place in November, and it will be the second to last circuit the sport visits. As a street circuit, drivers will have no room for error, but there will be opportunities to overtake on the longer straights. The total length is 6.120 kilometres. It is not entirely clear who this circuit will favour and practice will be important as teams try the track out for themselves for the first time. So far, they have only been able to do simulator work.

Where is the Las Vegas Grand Prix held?

The Las Vegas Grand Prix is held in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is located in the West of the United States, with the city close to the state’s border with California and Arizona. The layout runs by the famous Caesars Palace and the Bellagio Fountains. The track is finalised for the Formula 1 race itself, and there will be no support series run.

Las Vegas GP history

The Las Vegas Grand Prix will happen in 2023, but it is not the first time Formula 1 has raced in the city. In 1982, the Caesars Palace event was won by Michele Alboreto with his Tyrell on a completely different layout, with John Watson and Eddie Cheever completing the Top 3. Four-time world champion Alain Prost won Pole Position but missed out on the podium, finishing fourth.

The Las Vegas Grand Prix was first announced in March 2022, and later that year in September, its date was published by Formula 1. The Grand Prix has already made the news with its expensive tickets and ideas of shielding the windows of trackside restaurants and hotels to avoid fans watching the event for free.
