Laurent Mekies was selected to replace Christian Horner as CEO and team principal of Red Bull Racing, and the Frenchman has quite a task at hand. The Frenchman was asked about how the team could keep four-time world champion Max Verstappen at the team. It was Mekies who got promoted from Racing Bulls after Red Bull's decision to dismiss long-standing team principal Christian Horner.

Mekies also talked about the second when addressing the Dutchman's future during his first weekend as a Red Bull Racing team principal.
"In terms of priority, I'm sure Max wants a fast car. And if we get him a fast car, I'm sure it's cancelling out all the other considerations," he began.
"So really the focus is very much to, as we said earlier, to try to get to know the team as quickly as possible, in order to see how we can support, how we can build the next step of competitiveness in order to get a fast car, and hence to make it an easy call for for Max."
