Kimi Antonelli made history at a chaotic Monaco GP to become the youngest ever driver to win at F1's Crown Jewel, begging the question just how far the 19-year-old can go in F1, and whether his teammate George Russell can respond in the title fight. GPblog's Jim Kimberley and Ben Hunt discuss it in the latest episode of the GPblog Paddock Update!
The teenage sensation pulled off a commanding victory in Monte Carlo, expertly holding his nerve amidst a dramatic final 10 laps brought on by a 30-minute long red flag. Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff hailed Antonelli's performance as "unbelievable," but spoke of an emotional dilemma as George Russell finished P13.
The Briton's race was ruined by a Drive Through penalty upon the race's restart, picked up for failing to serve an initial five-second penalty earlier. It is the latest batch of bad luck for Russell, who believes he's on par with his teammate Antonelli over a clean weekend.
Nonetheless, take nothing away from Antonelli's performance in Monaco, converting Pole Position into victory ahead of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton. Antonelli has also just equalled Hamilton's personal record of five race wins in a row, leaving our hosts to ponder just how far Antonelli can go in the sport.
The relationship between Antonelli and Hamilton is also looked at, after the former joked with the Mercedes youngster that it won't be long until he equalled him in overall race wins during the podium cooldown.

On the other side of the garage at Ferrari, it was a nightmare for hometown hero Charles Leclerc, whose crash it was that brought on that late red flag amid inspections to broken up tarmac.
The Monegasque driver has identified Ferrari's brakes as the reason for both his crash and disappointing performance, leading to brake suppliers Brembo to make a statement.
The supplier said: “At present, the company does not know the causes of the issues experienced by Charles Leclerc and therefore considers it premature to draw definitive technical conclusions before the available data has been analysed. In cases such as this, it is necessary to examine the telemetry data together with the team’s engineers in order to accurately determine the origin of the incident.”

Our hosts Jim and Ben take a look at this latest saga over at Ferrari, as well as the unusual number of penalties incurred at the iconic street circuit. A total of five drivers received penalties for speeding in the pit lane, including Alpine's Pierre Gasly who saw a podium place taken away for two infringements. The French squad have since appealed a Right of Review over Gasly's penalties.
What's more is that none of the drivers were even 1 km/h over the 60km/h limit at Monaco, raising questions over just what was happening at the weekend - our hosts of the GPblog Paddock Update have this one covered and more!
