Hamilton thinks Antonelli is winning too much: 'You're catching me'

Kimi Antonelli won the Monaco Grand Prix in masterful fashion, becoming the youngest ever Formula 1 winner in the principality ever. Lewis Hamilton notes that the Mercedes talent is winning an awful lot.
Hamilton, who also had a particularly strong weekend in Monaco, sat together with Antonelli and Isack Hadjar in the cooldown room in preparation for the podium ceremony. Fun fact: Antonelli (19) and Hadjar (21) are 40 years old combined, which still makes them younger together than the 41-year-old Ferrari driver.

Hamilton has a message for Antonelli

The race winner was the last to sit down and took a seat next to Hamilton on the couch, where the trio watched highlights of the race. There were quite a few, although much of the action happened behind the scenes. There was contact here and there between drivers, as well as between drivers and the wall. There were also Safety Cars and even a Red Flag with only ten laps to go.
As the F1 drivers watched the footage back, there was a lot of debriefing. For instance, Hamilton noted that his younger rival is winning a bit too much at the moment. “You’re winning too much, man. You’re going to overtake me,” he said with a laugh.

Antonelli, for his part, pointed out that the asphalt started breaking up in Turn 19, the reason for the eventual Red Flag in the closing stages. Hamilton reacted in surprise: “I had no idea the asphalt was coming apart!”
Antonelli has now extended his lead in the championship to 66 points. Not over his teammate George Russell, however, but rather Hamilton. The seven-time world champion has overtaken Russell in the standings, the Briton scored no points due to multiple penalties, and is now 68 points behind his teammate.

Speaking immediately after the race, Hamilton made sure to praise his former team despite his own P2 finish for Ferrari. He said: "I have to start by congratulating Kimi and the Mercedes team, my old family.
"They've done it again; they've built a great car. And Kimi is doing an incredible job—week in, week out he delivers. It's great to see and I'm really happy for them."
