Kelly Piquet and Penelope meet Wolff in Monza: 'We are coming to see you'

Kelly Piquet and her daughter Penelope are present at this weekend's Italian Grand Prix at Monza. They, of course, cheered on Max Verstappen, who initially qualified sixth before being promoted to fifth on the grid after Oscar Piastri received a grid penalty for impeding Liam Lawson in Q2.

Mercedes also posted on social media that team boss Wolff met Verstappen's partner and Penelope. 'P' got to try out the Austrian's scooter and was also invited into the Mercedes garage on Saturday.

It's not surprising that Wolff and Verstappen's family get along well. They know each other well and, as was the case last year, they were pictured together on holiday during the 2026 Formula 1 summer break in Sardinia.

The four-time F1 world champion did not mince his words after qualifying in Monza. When Verstappen was asked if they are looking for answers, the Dutchman said: "For a very long time. I know where the problem lies, but I'm not the engineer to solve it. I’ve been dealing with this for years."

Asked whether it’s a specific spec or due to an update, he added, "No, I’ve been struggling with this for years.
