Max Verstappen is clearly frustrated after qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix. According to the Dutchman, something has been going wrong at Red Bull for years, which has once again cost him a good result in Monza.
When Verstappen is asked if they are looking for answers, the Dutchman says: "For a very long time. I know where the problem lies, but I'm not the engineer to solve it. I’ve been dealing with this for years." Asked whether it’s a specific spec or due to an update, Max says: "No, I’ve been struggling with this for years." However, the four-time world champion does not want to say exactly what it is.
When later asked again whether the team at least listens to him, Verstappen said: "Yes, they’re trying to fix it, but it’s not working at the moment. Some weekends we suffer less, when we drive less over the kerbs and there are therefore fewer moments with those hard impacts. Then it bothers us less. In Zandvoort I didn’t do a lap, so you don’t know how it would have gone. It happens very often."

Verstappen doesn’t turn cynical

Verstappen, who finished P6 in Qualifying, also pointed out that in 2026 there seems to be something wrong every weekend with his RB22. When asked if that makes him cynical, he says: "Ultimately, I want to get the best out of it. If that doesn’t work because something goes wrong every time, of course I get frustrated. On the other hand, you’re not fighting for the world championship, so you have to put it a bit into perspective."
"It’s a shame, I know everyone is doing their best. You can’t pin it on one person either. It’s just a very big team. It’s just unfortunate that this season a lot of things simply aren’t always right," the Red Bull driver concludes.
