Laurent Mekies has taken over as CEO and team principal at Red Bull Racing from ousted Christian Horner, which has sparked rumours of turmoil and discontent withtin the team. The recently promoted team boss responds. Speaking to media including GPblog, Mekies shared insights on the decision the top brass at Red Bull made a little over two weeks ago.
"For sure, the first 24 hours was a big adjustment because nobody was expecting it. So no questions. The first few hours after the announcement was a surprise for everyone and certainly a digestion phase for everyone," Mekies said.
"What can I say after that? You know, I've been only been finding a huge amount of support from everyone. They just want to go racing.
What does Mekies say about the turmoil rumours at Red Bull Racing

"So, they are hugely respectful and we all are in the achievements that have been made under Christian's leadership."
Can Mekies expect any more from the team's members and staff at the factory in terms of overall dedication to get back to the top? He answers
"No. Everybody has been incredibly supportive, willing to open the door, willing to speak, to listen, what were the limitations, what were the strengths, how do we go next about going back to the racetrack and fighting at an even higher level tomorrow. That's what I found," Mekies concluded..
