Lando Norris' qualifying sessions have not been the bet this year, with the Briton often failing to extract his McLaren's full potential over a lap. The papaya team's CEO Zak Brown reveals what gave Norris pole at Monaco. However, Norris managed to overturn this trend, and at Monaco of all places, something Brown can't help but to relish in conversation with Sky Sports after the race in Monte-Carlo.
"He's obviously had a few Q3 struggles, and to get it done in Q3 at Monte Carlo is awesome," said Brown reacting to Norris' pole, a determining factor to his race win on Sunday.
"I think he's just very focused. He knows he's got a great chance at the championship, and maybe he just lets me do the exciting part."

Norris less worried with perfection
His pole and win at Monte-Carlos comes off the back of some complicated outings in qualifying in previous race weekends for Norris. Many paddock figures pointed to the Briton struggling with a mental aspect in the sport.
Brown's words seem to confirm just that, since the change Norris made in the face of his second pole position of the year was to have a more 'less worrisome approach' to his push laps.
"Just focus and not kind of worry about, if you don't get in the perfect lap, do the best you can and give it another go. And so that's exactly what happened. We went out and we got two laps in with both our guys. And the first one was really good, but wasn't good enough. And the second time he got it done."
Norris, however, wasn't so confident he was out of the woods yet in terms of coping with his MCL39 when driven in full anger and on low fuel. Despite bagging pole at the toughest place to do so,
he still believed he was yet to find 'it.'
