Red Bull issue statement after FIA ruling restores Hadjar podium

The long-running saga surrounding the Monaco Grand Prix reached its conclusion on Friday. The FIA International Court of Appeal upheld the appeals lodged by Red Bull and McLaren, overturning the stewards’ decision from June 12 to rescind Gasly’s two five-second penalties for pit-lane speeding.

As a result, Gasly drops back to seventh place in the official Monaco classification, while Hadjar is reinstated in third. Oscar Piastri moves up to fourth, ahead of Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad.

Red Bull had already welcomed the decision through team principal Laurent Mekies earlier on Friday, but the team have now released an official statement addressing the outcome.

"We are highly satisfied with the decision of the FIA International Court of Appeal (ICA) and want to thank the FIA for demonstrating the strength of its governance framework," Red Bull said.

The team added that it had remained convinced throughout the proceedings that its interpretation of the situation would ultimately prevail.

For Red Bull, the case went beyond Hadjar simply regaining his third-place finish. The team believes the verdict was important for sporting fairness and the integrity of Formula 1.

"It is, first and foremost, the right outcome for the integrity of the sport and the principles of sporting fairness. Motorsport is at its best when outcomes are decided on the track, which is what fans, teams and competitors all want to see," the statement continued.

That echoes Mekies' comments from earlier in the day, when the Red Bull team principal stressed the importance of having a consistent approach to enforcing the regulations.

The decision by the ICA followed a hearing in Paris on August 25. The court declared the appeals admissible, granted them and reinstated both five-second penalties originally handed to Gasly.

For Hadjar, it means his performance in Monaco is officially restored as a podium finish for Red Bull.

"Everyone at Oracle Red Bull Racing is thrilled that Isack's outstanding performance in Monaco has now been reinstated, securing his first podium finish with the Team," Red Bull concluded.
