George Russell set the pace at Monza a day ago. In FP2, the British driver set a 1:22.559 and finished around a tenth of a second ahead of Charles Leclerc and Kimi Antonelli. Lando Norris finished around four-tenths of a second behind Russell. The Briton explained that McLaren is "struggling for pace" compared to previous weekends.

Max Verstappen also voiced his concerns about the RB22 over the team radio during FP2. The Dutchman set only the ninth-fastest time in the second session, finishing more than eight-tenths of a second behind Russell.

In terms of the championship picture, home favourite Antonelli leads the standings by 59 points over both his teammate Russell and Lewis Hamilton. However, the Italian will certainly start from the back of the grid on Sunday afternoon due to an engine penalty. In fourth place, Norris, who has won the last two Grands Prix, is 83 points behind.

Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton also discussed his team's issues after Friday at Monza. The Briton said: "Straight line speed is considerable. Just looking at the deltas, I was losing something like six tenths to George just in the straights, which is something we need to look at look into.
