Lewis Hamilton has said it is "pretty nuts" that only he was handed a penalty at the Mexico City Grand Prix. "Others cut it and held position and didn't get a penalty, so it was pretty nuts."
- Lewis HamiltonThe seven-time world champion was in contention for his maiden Grand Prix podium for
Ferrari, but a ten-second stop-and-go penalty derailed his race, finishing down in P8.
Hamilton's penalty came after he went off track while battling Max Verstappen, going off track and then rejoining without using the escape road into turn 4 at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.
However, there were some questions asked by the Brit as to why he was the only one who was handed a penalty for going off track and gaining an advantage, after a manic start saw Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc
both take to the grass but receive no penalty.

"The position I'm in, there are still some positives to take from the weekend," started Hamilton in the Mexico City paddock.
"I had a great start. We were breaking into turn one, and I was in the slipstream of P2. I navigated through one and two, and three. I didn't go off track.
"Others cut it and held position and didn't get a penalty, so it was pretty nuts."
There was also talk as to whether Verstappen should have been handed a penalty for his lunge at Hamilton just a few corners before the Brit went wide and received a penalty.
"It felt like racing," Hamilton dismissed. "I was fine there; it was just the cutting, and then I'm the only one to get a ten-second penalty. It was kind of nuts, a ten-second stop-and-go.
"I pinched the right front. I went to go down the exit road, but it's like the dustiest place on earth, and I couldn't slow the car down, so I ended up cutting the grass, but that's the exit road.
