Dodger Stadium welcomes F1’s Checo Perez for first pitch

Sergio "Checo" Perez will take the mound at Dodger Stadium to throw the opening pitch at this Wednesday's game, TWG Global today announced, with the moment aimed at celebrating both Mexican Heritage Month and the week of Mexican Independence Day.

This occasion marks TWG Global's first cross-over between the conglomerate's vast sports portfolio, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Major League Baseball (MLB) team, and Cadillac F1's Sergio Perez.

"The partnership highlights TWG Global’s distinctive multi-sport model, which brings athletes into broader cultural conversations and introduces global fanbases to new sporting platforms," the TWG Global press release read.

“We’re honored to welcome Checo to Dodger Stadium during Mexican Heritage Month, an occasion that highlights the power of sport to unite fans,” said the Chairman of the Los Angeles Dodgers and CEO of TWG Global, Mark Walter.

“With both the Dodgers and Cadillac Formula 1 Team under the TWG umbrella, this moment reflects our shared commitment to excellence and to inspiring fans around the world.”

For Perez it will be a full schedule as the Mexican F1 driver will take on batting practice, meet the Dodgers players, join a press conference, swap a signed Cadillac F1 helmet for a personalised Dodgers jersey and throw the first pitch.

"His appearance underscores both his stature as one of Mexico’s most celebrated athletes and his new role in shaping the identity of the Cadillac Formula 1® Team," the document read.

Perez honored to be a part of the MLB-F1 crossover

Perez said: “I’m honored to throw the ceremonial first pitch for the Dodgers, especially during Mexican Heritage Month and so close to Mexican Independence Day.

"I’m very proud to celebrate this moment with the Los Angeles community and with Mexican fans everywhere. Baseball is new for me, but it is great to see how sport has this incredible power to bring people together, and the TWG family is doing a fantastic job in this way.

"I'm excited to experience the passion of the Dodgers’ crowd, which I hope will get behind the Cadillac Formula 1 Team too."

Cadillac gears up for F1 debut

In 2026 Cadillac will make its first meters in F1. Alongside Perez, Valtteri Bottas is the man chosen to drive Cadillac towards their goal of reaching the very summit of F1.

Equipped with state-of-the-art racing technology and heaps of knowledge and expertise from partner General Motors, the team is set to begin its adventure in Formula One.
