Daniel Ricciardo has shared a lengthy letter on the website of his lifestyle brand Enchanté, reflecting on the events that have shaped his life in recent months. The update comes just weeks after the Australian was spotted in the United States attending the Indy 500. The Australian driver made his final
Formula 1 appearance with Racing Bulls at the Singapore Grand Prix in September 2024. Twelve months later, he officially announced his retirement from racing, but
remained involved in the motorsport world by taking on the role of global ambassador for Ford, which returned to Formula 1 this year as Red Bull's technical partner in the RBPT project.
In the letter, Ricciardo reflected on life after racing, explaining that he has been enjoying spending far more time working on Enchanté since stepping away from the cockpit. While admitting the transition from driving at 200mph to sitting in an office chair may seem unusual, the Australian said he has embraced the slower pace and the opportunity to become more involved in a brand that began as an extension of his racing career. He also described it as a way of maintaining a connection to motorsport, albeit from a very different perspective.
"Since stepping away from the driver's seat, I've enjoyed spending a lot more time in the Enchanté seat. Most would think that's a weird jump, going from a 200mph cockpit to a static office chair. But honestly? I'm loving the change of pace and getting to dive deeper into the brand we built out of a racing career, but is now outliving mine. It's also a way to stay close to motorsport, just from a very different angle."
Enchanté and long-time friend Conor Daly launched a collaboration ahead of this year's Indy 500, with the American-Irish driver going on to finish 12th in the iconic race: "Conor and I have been friends for close to 15 years, going back to when we were both chasing the European racing dream from opposite sides of the world. So to be there, finally, as a fan watching him race in his hometown, was pretty special. It's kinda fun when the pressure isn't on you. Being a fan again brings me back to childhood feelings and memories. I like it."
Reflecting on the Indy 500 weekend, Ricciardo described it as a particularly memorable experience despite having spent his entire life travelling the world through motorsport. He was especially struck by the atmosphere around Indianapolis, noting how entire neighbourhoods had embraced the event with Indy 500 and chequered flags displayed outside homes, creating a sense of collective excitement similar to a city rallying behind a local team competing in a major final.
"Looking back on the weekend, it was such a cool experience. And let me remind you, I've been all over the world doing this my whole life. But something about Indy was really amazing. Every neighborhood I drove past had Indy 500 flags and checkered flags hanging off the front porch. It kinda feels like the local sporting team has made the final or something. Everyone just gets behind it."
How Ricciardo and Daly's Enchanté collaboration came to life
Speaking about how the collaboration came together, Ricciardo explained that the idea was born during last year's Las Vegas Grand Prix, where Daly had once again encouraged him to attend the Indy 500 after years of trying. Having finally committed to making the trip, Ricciardo introduced Daly to the Enchanté team during one of the brand's pop-up events, with the American quickly making a strong impression on everyone involved. Once plans for the race were confirmed, the two sides began working on a collection inspired by Daly and the Indy 500.
"As for the collection, it started back in Vegas last year when Conor and I were both there for the GP. He'd been trying to get me to Indy for ages, but the F1 schedule and the chaos of that lifestyle always made it tough. So I committed then and there. Conor met the Enchanté team while we were all out for our pop-up, and everyone loved him as much as I do. Well, actually, they loved him more than they love me. "Conor's a character, a hell of a driver, and a genuine good egg. Once the race was locked in, we started designing a collection built around him and the Indy 500. Seeing it out in the world and on the ground at Indy was the perfect way to close out the month.".
