Ai Ogura claimed a sensational first pole position of his MotoGP career, edging out Fabio Di Giannantonio and Francesco Bagnaia.
Q1 started with all the riders trying to follow Jorge Martin. The Aprilia man did his job emphatically and topped the session ahead of Franco Morbidelli. Maverick Vinales was unlucky to miss out on a Q2 position by just a few hundredths of a second.
It was a dramatic Q2 session as Marc Marquez had his first lap deleted and Diogo Moreira even temporarily led the session after following Ai Ogura. The lead changed hands several times as Di Giannantonio, Bagnaia and then Ogura again topped the timing sheets.
Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi could only manage P4, while Jorge Martin was left down in 10th a double long lap penalty to serve tomorrow.
