Romain Grosjean may have made it to Q3 and qualified ninth for the Hungarian Grand Prix, but the Haas driver was honest in his assessment of his chances when the lights go out at the Hungaroring.
Grosjean has had a tough time this season and many people believe his place at Haas is under threat, with Esteban Ocon and Nico Hulkenberg both linked with his seat. However, he was given a reprieve last time out in Germany when he finished seventh, albeit in crazy conditions.
Despite being inline to start ninth for the Hungarian Grand Prix the Frenchman was honest when it came to his chances in the race and admitted he was worried.
“The old girl made it into Q3, she was limping a little at the beginning, but eventually she got there," Grosjean said on the Haas website.
"It’s been a tough weekend to be fair on her. We’re running the same downforce we had in Hockenheim, just because that’s the maximum we’ve got.
"I’m worried for the race, we’re missing a lot of downforce to get the tire to stay alive for a long time. It’s a track where it’s difficult to overtake, so I’ll get my elbows out and see where we can finish tomorrow.”
