Marco Bezzecchi claimed a historic victory at his home race in the Italian Grand Prix, Aprilia's first ever home win in the premier class. The highly anticipated rivalry between Italian teams certainly delivered a classic in Mugello.
Ducati's home hero Francesco Bagnaia made an excellent start to get ahead of both Aprilia riders and led for the first half of the race, but it was fellow-Italian Bezzecchi who took the lead on Lap 14 and soon cleared off into the distance to claim his fourth Grand Prix win of the season and extend his lead in the championship over Aprilia teammate Jorge Martin.
Martin nonetheless picked up valuable points with a P2 finish, while Bagnaia managed to hang on to third to claim his second consecutive podium this season.
Marc Marquez fought valiantly on his return from injury, and spent much of the race in a duel with future teammate Pedro Acosta, however the pair were eventually passed by Ai Ogura and Fabio Di Giannantonio.
Ogura made a late charge for the podium but Bagnaia held him off to claim a well-earned podium. His Trackhouse teammate and sprint winner Raul Fernandez made a good recovery after a mistake at the first corner, he took a solid P8 points finish.

It was a decent weekend for the HRC Honda team as Brazilian rookie Diogo Moreira recorded his best finish of the season, even edging out his factory teammates Joan Mir and Luca Marini to claim a top ten spot.
Yamaha's woes continued with another poor showing, Jack Miller was the highest placed rider in P15, scoring just a single point for the Japanese manufacturer.
