Pedro Acosta’s Career
Pedro Acosta is one of the riders with the most potential on the current MotoGP grid. The rider from Mazarrón, Murcia, graduated to Moto3 after winning the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup in only his second season.
In his first season in 2021, Acosta claimed the Moto3 title riding for KTM, finishing comfortably ahead of rivals Dennis Foggia and Sergio Garcia.
The Spaniard immediately got promoted to Moto2, where in his debut year, he finished fifth in the standings winning a total of two Grands Prix. Then in 2023, the young rider achieved the Moto2 title as well while winning seven GPs throughout the season.
The logical next step for Acosta was promotion to MotoGP. He began his first season in the highest category with the Tech3 team, riding a KTM bike. He claimed his first Grand Prix podium immediately at his second race at Portimao. Acosta then went on to score two more Grand Prix podiums that season in Aragon and Thailand.
In 2025, Acosta was signed for the KTM factory team. He had an especially strong second half of the season, regularly featuring on Grand Prix and Sprint podiums from the Czech GP onwards.
In 2026, Acosta will continue with KTM, still looking to achieve his first victory in MotoGP.

Acosta was born on 25 May 2004, and is still only 21 years old. The Spanish rider is 171 centimetres tall.
He was born in Mazarrón, Murcia. That is also where his nickname comes from, which is ‘El Tiburón de Mazarrón’ (‘The Shark from Mazarrón’).

Pedro Acosta currently uses ‘37’ on his bike in MotoGP. He also completed his first season with this number in Moto3. During his rookie Moto2 campaign, he used ‘51’ as his teammate Augusto Fernandez already had ‘37’. In 2023, he won the title with ‘37’ once again.
In 2024, he was again teammates with Fernandez, which meant that he had to choose a different number. This time, he opted for ‘31’. After Fernandez lost his full-time seat, entering 2025, Acosta could begin using ‘37’ for the third time.
